Not gonna lie, when Zac Efron and model Sami Miro started dating in October 2014, we didn’t think it would last very long. But even though the pair seemed like an unlikely match at the start, they proved all their doubters wrong and seemed to be going strong for quite some time. And although neither of the 28 year olds have said anything to make people believe they split, the High School Musical star pulled some shady moves on social media, sparking rumors that they’re no longer together.
Zac’s Instagram account used to be filled with adorable pictures of himself and his GF, but as of this weekend, they are all gone. Additionally, the hottie unfollowed the model on Twitter, which, if you ask us, seems to be pretty solid proof that something negative went down between the two recently. And when we say ‘recently,’ we mean very recently, because Zac and Sami were just seen walking the MTV Movie Awards red carpet together just over two weeks ago; the actor even wore a denim jacket that was designed by his love!
But while Zac has completely wiped all evidence of Sami ever existing from his Instagram page, the designer still has adorbs shots of the pair up on her account, and still follows him on Twitter. Hm… what the heck could this mean?! Do you think the two are broken up, or is this just a small blip in their relationship? Tell us your thoughts below!
Although we’re still not quite sure what exactly when down between Z & S, these 7 Disney Channel couples definitely had HORRIBLE breakups IRL:
Vanessa Hudgens & Zac Efron
If you looked up the word "adorable" in the dictionary, you'd probably find a picture of Zac and Vanessa when they were a couple. However, it turned out that their relationship was far from perfect when they weren't in front of the cameras. Vanessa opened up about the reason behind the split when she told The New York Times, "I went through a phase when I was really mean because I was so fed up. Girls were running after him, and I was giving them death stares. Then I realized that's not what that's about."
Nick Jonas & Miley Cyrus
These two were quite the sneaky ones. For a while, fans weren't even aware of the fact that they were a couple, but by the time they broke up in 2007, people were already on to them. According to an interview with Seventeen, Miley was devastated after the breakup. She said, "At first I bawled for a month straight. I was so sad. I just went into this weird funk." And according to the Huffington Post, she called the split her "biggest heartbreak."
This isn’t even the worst part, though. Because soon after the split, Nick started to date her friend and fellow Disney star, Selena Gomez. That pretty much caused their friendship to crumble, and even to this day, it doesn't seem like Miley is on the best terms with Selena or Nick.
Though Selena's never outright said so herself, you could assume that her split with Nick wasn't exactly great either.
Demi Lovato & Joe Jonas
Joe and Demi dated only for about a month, but because of Demi's drug abuse, Joe quickly called it quits. In an interview with Us magazine, he said, "I really got to know her and got to see the ins and outs of what she was struggling with, like drug abuse. I felt like I needed to take care of her, but at the same time I was living a lie, because I wasn't happy but felt like I had to stay in it for her, because she needed help. I couldn't express any of that, of course, because I had a brand to protect."
And as for Demi, she told Us, "We were in a relationship and we broke up, and at one point, I was really mad at him." Also, rumor also has it that her song "Mistake" was actually inspired by the sudden breakup. She explained her reaction to the lyrics and said, "I was really intrigued by the fact that the girl had just been broken up with and it was the other person's fault and it was the other person's greatest mistake." That definitely sounds like a reference to her own breakup with Joe.
Joe Jonas & AJ Michalka
AJ and Joe dated in 2006, but it didn't last long because they were struggling with long distance. Rumor has it that Joe actually forgot AJ's birthday, which inspired Aly and AJ's "Potential Breakup Song." Plus, it seemed like Joe wasn't very happy in the relationship. In an interview, Joe said, "I'm always disappointed when I'm into a girl and she brushes off something that's really important to me. When I'm excited about something, I want to share it with the people I love, and if a girl isn't excited for me, or at least excited that it's making me happy, well, that's a sign that something is wrong."
Aaron Carter & Hilary Duff
Almost every teen in existence knew about the whole Hilary Duff-Aaron Carter-Lindsay Lohan love triangle. The drama officially started when rumors broke out about Aaron cheating on Hilary with LiLo. And in an interview with CNBC in 2005, he pretty much confirmed it when he said this about HilaryL "I was dating her for, like, a year and a half and then I just got a little bored, so I went and I started getting to know Lindsay, dating Lindsay."
But hold on, if you think that's messed up, wait until you hear the aftermath: Just over a year ago, Aaron declared his love for Hilary on Twitter and claimed that he would do whatever it takes to get her back. Meanwhile, Hilary had already moved on by getting married and having a kid, so understandably, she didn't respond. But in 2015, when she did an interview with Cosmo and called his tweets "ridiculous," Aaron was not happy. He lashed out on Twitter and said that she needed to "stop talking about it." Yikes… That drama was really intense.
Shane Harper & Bridgit Mendler
Of all the breakups on this list, this one was by far one of the most shocking. After three years of dating, the couple suddenly split. They actually chose to deal with the breakup in private, but in an interview with TheHumorMill, Bridgit said, "I'm single, so I guess that means I'm undateable."
She also mentioned that she'd be welcome to dating someone who isn't famous. She said, "I would like that. I think it'd be cool to date someone outside of the industry." That’s pretty much the complete opposite of Shane!
Sabrina Carpenter & Bradley Steven Perry
Sabrina and Bradley seemed like such a perfect couple, but subtle signs started to point to a possible split, like the time when Sabrina did her exclusive interview with M and talked about her heartbreaking moments and how difficult boys can be. Steven even posted a few questionable tweets that suggested his relationship was on the rocks (including a picture of him getting super emotional over a sad Taylor Swift song about relationships).
But even though their breakup was mostly a rumor, evidence began to mount against them. Sabrina's father unfollowed Bradley on Twitter and Instagram, and Sabrina supposedly threw shade at Bradley by mocking him on photo site as well. It doesn’t sound like things ended well between these two at all.
