In the past year or so, Zendaya went from being known as a cute Disney Channel actress to an outspoken fashion icon that basically every major brand wanted to work with. Whether she was bringing back the mullet, or daring to go retro-chic at a major award show, the 19-year-old star has totally come into her own and knows exactly how to dress to look and feel confident and beautiful.
But as with many former child stars who are now among Hollywood’s hottest, the K.C. Undercover lead had to go through a period of time when she was finding herself and her personal style… and you could definitely tell. Although Z’s past red-carpet choices were probably perfect for her tween years, it’s pretty darn funny to look back and say, ‘There’s no WAY she’d ever dress like that today!’ Times are changing, people; embrace it.
Long-Sleeve Shirt Under Tank Dress
If you've never layered a long-sleeve tee under a spaghetti strap top or dress, we're almost positive you did not live through the late '90s/early '00s. CLASSIC!
Mickey Mouse Bow
You may think we'd comment on Z's bold pants, but we have to say we're loving the tapered-yet-fierce look! The shirt accessory that happens to look like the actress' big boss, however, is something we simply cannot get past. And even though the 19-year-old is still on Disney Channel and obviously loves the brand, we're pretty pos she'd never accessorize like this today.
Layering is not a new trend by any means, but the people who successfully rock it without looking homeless know exactly how many things they should mix. Unfortunately, the floral shirt over the tight tank under the flannel paired with the tights and hat are just too much for the eye to handle.
Floral Tuxedo Jacket
Zendaya's all about a pattern nowadays, but for some reason we just can't see her ever rocking a tuxedo jacket printed with brightly colored flowers (or are those leopard spots??).
Shiny Skirt & Tee
As separates, all of the pieces of this ensemble are absolutely fine. But when put together, the metallic maxi skirt, leather jacket and Snow White t-shirt just clash hardcore.
All Metallic Err'thang
What can we say — this girl loves things that shine! Quick question for ya, Z... is that skirt pleather? Rubber? Plz advise.
