Taylor Swift isn’t the only celebrity with an awesome squad — Jennifer Lawrence got a pretty awesome one herself.
While the 26-year-old “Wildest Dreams” singer has plenty of fun first-meeting stories with her group of gal pals, the 26-year-old Hunger Games actress has her own tales to tell. Sure, we’ve all heard her talk about her initial encounters with Brad Pitt, Bill Murray & Kris Jenner, and we all watched her meet Lorde for the first time at the premiere of Mockingjay — Part 1 — all of which were hilarious and/or cute as can be — but none of those famous humans are exactly her BFFs.
The following stars, however, are some of her closest pals in Hollywood; okay, maybe not all of ’em are bestie status, but each of ’em can say they’re fairly tight with the Oscar-winner. We’re still waiting to hear what went down when the blonde beauty first met Liam Hemsworth, Bradley Cooper & Aziz Ansari, here’s how Jennifer Lawrence met eight of her celebrity friends — straight from her mouth or theirs:
The funny girls haven't been friends for long — only since 2015! — but they already consider themselves to be besties.
So, how'd they meet? You can thank an Amy Schumer comedy for that. JLaw told The New York Times, "I emailed her after I saw Trainwreck and said, 'I don't know where to get started. I guess I should just say it: I'm in love with you.' We started emailing, and then emailing turned to texting."
Soon after, they went on vacation together, Amy posted the pictures on Instagram, thus, igniting the public's FOMO.
We can only imagine what it'd be like to be BFFs with Adele, but Jennifer Lawrence doesn't have to.
While their friendship seemingly blossomed post-25 release, the pair's initial meeting dates back a few years.
"Adele and I met at the Oscars in 2013," Jen said in TIME. "I remember sneaking backstage while she performed "Skyfall," trying to squeeze a ballgown past a pile of ropes and cables just to get a little closer; see her from another angle as if to peek behind the Great Oz's curtain."
At the time, the Oscar-winner was a fangirl like the rest of us. "I had been a fan of hers since "Chasing Pavements" (saying 'fan' about Adele always sounds like an understatement, doesn't it?)," she wrote.
It's the ultimate BFFdom!
We've pictured ourselves being close pals with Emma & Jen before, and, apparently, they're close pals themselves. (Hit us up, ladies!)
The person they credit for their friendship is actually a mutual co-star: Woody Harrelson.
"She texted me that she got my number from Woody," Jen said in Vanity Fair. "I replied, 'F*ck off!' And we've been really good friends ever since."
The comedic duo then texted each other every single day... for a year! Jen dished, "I feel like it was our version of The Notebook — 365 texts." Adorbs.
Speaking of Woody, you probably could guess how he and the 26-year-old actress met. Yes, behind the scenes of The Hunger Games — but the story is still pretty interesting (and funny as hell).
"I was so nervous," Jen explained to EW about her pre-meeting jitters. "I had been practicing what I was going to say in my trailer because I couldn't decide if I was going to go with 'Hey, how are ya, I'm Jen!' or 'Hi, Woody, it's such an honor to meet you, I'm Jennifer.' I went over it and over it on the way walking to his bus, muttering to myself, 'Should I go with Jen or Jennifer? Should I say I'm Katniss. No he probably already knows that…'"
None of her planning mattered, though. She confessed, "I walked into his bus to introduce myself and the first words that just fell out of my mouth were, 'Is that a sex swing?!'" (It was a yoga swing, FYI.)
Needless to say, she was embarrassed AF, but Woody wouldn't change a thing about that encounter. He revealed, "The first moment meeting this incredible, esteemed actress and she opens the door and is like, 'Hi, Woody, I just wanted to say… is that a sex swing?!' I laughed so hard, then I said, 'Well, it could be.'"
You might think that J & J met courtesy of The Hunger Games, but that's, surprisingly, not the case.
During an interview with MTV News, the two were a bit confused about how they first met. "When was that? You were at a dance-floor something, and I came up to you like, 'What's up?'" Jen recalled. "I freaked you out, because I started telling you that thing ..."
Josh chimed in, "Are you sure that's when we met?"
"Yeah, at the SAG Awards," Jen stated. "You were on a dance floor."
"Yeah, the SAG Awards," Josh agreed. "but we weren't dancing at the SAG Awards."
So, basically, the two met at the SAG Awards... but they're not sure about the circumstances.
The X-Men: First Class co-stars continue to be great friends, most likely due to their first hangout session.
Zoe revealed to Rolling Stone, "I'd met her a few times, and she was like, 'You should come over and we'll hang out.' So I go over to her apartment, and she opens the door in a towel. She's like, 'Come in, sorry, you're early, I was about to shower.' And she drops her towel and gets in the shower, and starts shaving her legs, totally naked. She was like, 'Are we here yet? Is this okay?' And I was like, 'I guess we're there!'"
Yes, we know that wasn't their first meeting, but it's still such a fun story!
Betcha didn't know these two Academy Awards superstars were tight.
The Theory of Everything actor and Silver Linings Playbook actress met each other through director Oliver Stone years ago, and have maintained their friendship ever since.
For a January 2015 piece for Interview magazine, Jen actually interviewed Eddie, and the two joked about one particular meeting of theirs.
"Do you remember that time I saw you at the BAFTAs in London?" Eddie asked. "It was about 2 years ago, when you guys were doing Silver Linings Playbook, and we were doing Les Mis. I'd flown in from Berlin that day and eaten some dodgy salmon on a plane. I was presenting with Sally Field. I did the red carpet, and I got in and we were in this bar and I remember I saw you there. We went into the BAFTAs and I was sitting behind Anne Hathaway, and as the lights went down—"
"'I've got to go!'" Jen jokingly imitated Eddie.
He admitted, "I legged it down some stairs in the Royal Opera House just out of the auditorium and proceeded to projectile vomit the entire way down the corridor... 5 minutes earlier, I had been chatting with you in the bar — but pale and sweaty."
"I wish you had told me," she responded. "I would've taken pictures!"
Such a beautiful story, don'tchya think?
Are they the best of friends? Eh, not really, but they're definitely friendly when they do meet up.
The first time they were in each other's presence, at the 2013 People's Choice Awards, Jen was exactly like the rest of us would be: a nervous wreck.
The actress sat down with ET for a joint interview with Josh Hutcherson shortly after the encounter. After Josh joked that their chemistry depended on what time of the month it is, Jen responded, "That time of the month? Yeah, Josh gets periods. It's weird."
Soon, she regretted her comment, admitting, "I'm so hyper; I need to calm down. I just met Taylor Swift and I'm still freaking out. [Josh] needs to answer the questions 'cause I'm still geeking out."
Same, girl, same.
Taylor and Jennifer's hangouts have since gotten less awkward.
