It’s not uncommon for directors to use the same actors in multiple films, especially once they’ve built a relationship. Johnny Depp has starred in eight of Tim Burton‘s flicks, and is also the godfather to his children. Leonardo DiCaprio and director Martin Scorsese have collaborated seven times, and are expected to come together for an eighth. Bill Murray and Wes Anderson, Molly Ringwald and John Hughes… the list goes on. The point is that when you find a solid working relationship, you hang on to it. And, that’s exactly what these Freeform actors did.
While they may not have stuck with the same director, these actors have been loyal to the ABC Family/Freeform network. Whether it be an original movie or a scripted series, they’ve been featured in multiple projects… sometimes as the same character! Take a look below to see which of your favorite actors made the list:
While Ashley is mostly known (and loved!) for her role as Hanna Marin on the hit show Pretty Little Liars, she's starred in movies as well. 2012's Spring Breakers and 2015 animated hit Pixels are just two films that she's been a part of.
While those feature films were made for the big screen, Ashley's starred in TV films as well, including Freeform's 2010 Christmas Cupid.
In the seasonal flick, Ashley plays Caitlin Quinn, a snotty star that chokes on a martini and olive and dies shortly before the holidays. She comes back as spirit to help her publicist fall in love.
On PLL, Lindsey Shaw plays Paige McCullers, Emily's on-again, off-again girlfriend. But before she became half of #Paily, Shaw had the lead role on another Freeform (then ABC Family) show: 10 Things I Hate About You.
Based off of the 1999 movie of the same name, the 2009 series adaptation featured Linds as Kat Statford, a sharp-tongued feminist who has no time for high school nonsense. She keeps her head in her books and speaks her mind freely, unlike her younger sister, who only hopes of becoming popular. The show was canceled after one season.
Torrey DeVitto is known for a few things: being the ex-wife of The Vampire Diaries stud Paul Wesley, and starring as Spencer Hastings' older sister, Melissa, on Pretty Little Liars.
However, before her twisted role as the mysterious sibling, Torrey starred on another Freeform series (then ABC Family). For one season, in 2005, TD starred as Karen Kerr, an aspiring model on the show Beautiful People. The show followed a recently-divorced mother and her two daughters as they struggled to find their place in New York City.
FUN FACT: Twilight favorite Jackson Rathbone also starred on the series.
Chelsea Kane currently stars as Riley Perrin, a young lawyer in the center of a love triangle on Freeform's Baby Daddy. After just one year on the hit show, Chelsea was offered a lead role in the ABC Family Original Movie Lovestruck: The Musical. She played Harper Hutton, a choreographer whose dance career was ruined after a leg injury. She pressures her daughter to follow in her footsteps, but after drinking a potion that transforms her back to her 25-year-old self, she can follow her dreams herself.
Currently starring as the lead on Baby Daddy, Jean-Luc Bilodeau plays a young man living in New York who, along with the help of his best friends, brother and mother, must raise the daughter he didn't know he had. But before he was cast on this 2012 Freeform show, he starred on another series for the network: Kyle XY.
He played a boy whose family, unknowingly, adopts a teenage boy that is a genetically-engineered science experiment. Kyle XY ended after three seasons.
Currently playing Will Ohmsford on MTV's The Shannara Chronicles, Austin Butler has been around the teen acting circuit for quite sometime. He's been featured on all of the hit channels, including MTV, Disney, Nickelodeon, The CW, and, obviously, Freeform.
One of his first credited main roles was when he played Jordan Gallagher on ABC Family's 2009 Ruby and the Rockits. He played a musically talented guy who develops a crush on his long-lost cousin when she moves in with him and his family. The show was canceled after just 10 episodes, but that didn't ruin his relationship with the network.
From 2011-2012, Austin was cast in a recurring role on Switched at Birth, playing Toby's best friend and Daphne's love interest, Wilke.
Most widely recognized as Lilly Truscott, the best friend of Miley Stewart on Hannah Montana, Emily has been featured in/on other teen favorites such as Spy Kids 2, The Suite Life on Deck, Jonas, and more. She currently stars on Freeform's comedy hit, Young & Hungry. But before she played the lovable screw-up chef Gabi Diamond, she starred in the 2011 ABC Family Original Movie Cyberbully.
In Cyberbully, Em played Taylor Hillridge, a 17-year-old girl who is attacked online by multiple culprits. Going so far as to attempt suicide, her character emphasizes the real-life consequences of cyber-bullying. You can now stream the film on Netflix.
Francia Raisa found her fame when she starred as promiscuous mean girl Adrian Lee on ABC Family's The Secret Life of the American Teenager. But since then, she has starred in four original movies for the network.
In the Cutting Edge series, she played Alex Delgado, an aspiring figure skater who finds love and success in the competitive world of ice skating.
In 2013, Francia starred in Christmas Bounty, a film about a bounty hunter turned teacher who teams up with her ex-boyfriend for one last criminal chase.
In the early 2000s, Raven-Symoné was a Disney Channel darling, starring in projects such as the Cheetah Girls films and That's So Raven. But in 2010, she jumped ship and switched her network loyalty to ABC Family.
First, she starred in the OG flick, Revenge of the Bridesmaids, in which she played a woman that goes undercover as a bridesmaid to sabotage a wedding.
Then, in 2011, she was cast as the lead in State of Georgia, on which she portrayed a southern belle who tried to find fame after moving to New York City. The show was canceled after one season.
Melissa Joan Hart
As a teen, Melissa Joan Hart starred on shows such as Clarissa Explains It All and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. As an adult, she's built a relationship with ABC Family.
First, in 2007, she starred in Holiday in Handcuffs as a woman who kidnaps a man and forces him to pretend to be her fiancé when she goes home for Christmas.
Then, in 2009, she and Joey Lawrence starred in My Fake Fiancé, a film about two strangers who pretend to be engaged to collect the money and gifts at the wedding.
The two had such amazing on-screen chemistry that for four seasons, beginning in 2011, they starred on Melissa and Joey, a TV series about a manny who moves in with a busy politician to help raise her niece and nephew.

In 2006, Matt Dallas was cast as the lead on ABC Family's Kyle XY, a show about a genetically engineered teenage boy who is adopted by a normal family. He struggles to adjust to normal human behavior, all while learning more about where he came from.
After Kyle XY ended in 2009, Matt went on to star in Freeform's TV movie, Beauty and the Briefcase, alongside Hilary Duff, and had a recurring role on Baby Daddy, reuniting with his TV brother Jean-Luc Bilodeau.
Scott Michael Foster
For four seasons, Scott Michael Foster starred as Cappie on ABC Family's 2007 show, Greek. The fan-favorite series followed a brother and sister who navigated the Greek sorority and fraternity systems while in college.
When the show ended in 2011, SMF went on to star on the short-lived series, Chasing Life. He played a terminally ill love interest of the main character. He also had a small recurring role on Melissa and Joey, as Melissa's love interest. We're sensing a theme…
