6 Big-Name Celebrities Who Really Don’t Like Football

by: on | in Celebrities | No Comments

Super Bowl Sunday is coming up and while most people are getting ready to do damage in the grocery store and are trying to figure out where they’ll watch the big game, others simply don’t give an eff. Even if football is considered ‘America’s Favorite Sport,’ soooome people just aren’t that enthused about watching some big dudes throw a ball around a field for, like, A MILLION hours.

People who aren’t into watching the memorable Sunday sporting even may seem like complete and total social lepers, but they are actually not alone. In fact, several celebrities have vocalized their distaste for football, too! While some stars will be tweeting their support for either the Patriots or the Falcons this weekend, others, you’ll see, couldn’t care less.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jen told E!, "I'm not a football fan. I'm a girl. I mean, I grew up in a sports family so it's almost remarkable that I know so little about sports growing up in the family that I did [but] I don't really care." While we are throwing her a major side eye for the "I'm a girl" comment (Newsflash: Lots of girls love sports!), we can respect that the sport isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Dianna Agron

When her Glee co-star Lea Michele was performing at the Super Bowl in 2011, Dianna said she would not be attending the game because she's just not really into it.

"I am not a sports girl. It's fun? But I don't understand — I understand the bare bones, what you need to get by. I think like half of the cast is going," she said. "I feel bad because they said I could have two tickets. That would be such a waste on me."

While passing up on the opportunity to go to the biggest sporting event of the year seems cray to some, the actress thought her seats could be better used on someone who, you know, actually cares.

Grey Damon

Despite having played a football player on the hit TV show Friday Night Lights, Grey said the only sport he's actually into is rugby. While the two are obvs kind of similar, the actor much prefers the one that doesn't require any padding.

Elijah Wood

When asked about the 2013 Super Bowl, Elijah told E! that he wasn't all that interested in football. "I have no idea who's playing. I'm an idiot when it comes to sports," the Lord of the Rings star said.

Meryl Streep

In Meryl's iconic shade towards President Trump during her acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, the actress inadvertently dissed football in the process. While speaking about the need to support immigration and welcome immigrants into our country, she said, "Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners, and if you kick us all out, you'll have nothing to watch except for football and mixed martial arts, which are not arts."

Comedian Trevor Noah pointed out her sly dig at the sport during his talk show saying, "You don't have to make your point by sh*tting on someone else's thing, because a lot of people love football and the arts."

While being rude probably wasn't the Oscar-winner's intention, people who love the Golden Globes and the Super Bowl may have been a bit peeved about her words.

Bridget Moynahan

Bridget was committed to one of America's most popular football players, Tom Brady for three years and the pair even has a baby together — but that does not mean she approves of her ex's choice of livelihood. According to sources, the actress is not quiet about her distaste for the sport and has said on numerous occasions that she refuses to watch games on Sundays.
