At the moment, everyone’s talking about Nikki Reed & Nina Dobrev, due to their recent pictures from the Vampire Diaries finale dinner, but another one of Ian Somerhalder‘s girls actually has way bigger news to share this week: Maggie Grace is engaged!
According to Us Weekly, the 33-year-old blonde actress, who appeared as Irina Denali in the fourth and fifth Twilight movies — Breaking Dawn — Part 1 and Part 2 — is tapped to marry boyfriend Brent Bushnell, the founder of an engineering entertainment firm called Two Bit Circus. The two met last year, and reportedly plan to walk down the aisle sometime later this year.
Before Nikki or even Nina ever dated the now-38-year-old actor, he and Maggie gave love a try. The two met on the set of Lost — they actually played step-brother and step-sister on the series from 2004-2010 — and began dating a few years after their initial meeting. The relationship didn’t last long, but, according to a 2015 interview, Maggie says she and Ian “are still very good friends.”
This is the second Twilight cast engagement in the past few months, as Ashley Greene got engaged to her love, Paul Khoury, over the 2016 holiday season.
The Twilight cast is far from innocent. Just look at all the scandals the stars were caught in:
The Cheating Scandal Heard 'round the World
In 2012, much to the dismay of dedicated Twilight fans, Kristen Stewart was caught, on camera, getting cozy with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders, while she was still dating Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson.
After the pictures were released, she issued a public statement, saying, "I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."
The kicker: The director was married, too — to KStew's SWATH mother, Liberty Ross! Fortunately, she found love again and just got remarried on Valentine's Day 2016.
Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart Left Their Significant Others — for Each Other!
Before Robsten spent four not-altogether-blissful years together, KStew was in another four-year-long relationship with actor Michael Angarano and RPattz reportedly hooked up with their co-star, Nikki Reed.
But, for reasons only they know specifically — love, publicity, whatever — the two both called it quits with their other lovers mere months/weeks before starting their own love affair. Some say that's why Nikki & Kristen stopped being friends.
Ashley Greene's Nude Photo Leak
Prior to dating Joe Jonas, the brunette beauty's naked pictures were released on the Internet for all the world to see. Her lawyer immediately issued a statement, saying, "The photos in question, which appear to be of our client, are illegal and are being unlawfully displayed. Our client intends to take legal action." Nevertheless, a lot of damage was already done.
Two years after the leak, she told Allure of her family's reaction, "One of my family members said to me, 'Ashley, everyone does it. You're just famous."'
Jamie Campbell Bower's Possible Cheating
If you read our list of Harry Potter star scandals, then you know why JCB is here. But we'll reiterate just in case you missed it: In February 2010, the blond future Mortal Instruments star and HP actress
Ginny Weasley Bonnie Wright began dating; soon after, in April 2011, they announced their engagement. Everything seemed all well and beautiful, until July 2012 when everyone learned that the two had not only split, but he had already moved on with his co-star from The Mortal Instruments, Lily Collins.
Scandalous? Maybe, maybe not, as it's not entirely clear if there was any sort of overlap.
Stephenie Meyer's Supposed Plagiarism
Even the Twilight book series author, who cameoed in the franchise, can't catch a break!
In 2009, Stephenie was accused of ripping ideas from Jordan Scott's The Nocturne and plugging them into the final novel in her hit franchise, Breaking Dawn. His lawyer claimed, "If you take away everything but the similarities and see if they match up... if you take away the differences in this case, the similarities are very similar. Stephenie Meyer has taken ideas from Jordan's book, though they both go in different directions."
Thankfully, the copyright-infringement lawsuit was dismissed by a United States District Court judge.
Bronson Pelletier's Public Intoxication
You may know him as a member of Jacob's wolf pack, Jared, but we'll forever remember him for his drunken arrest mainly because, after law enforcement dubbed him too intoxicated to fly, he was spotted hours later urinating in public... by the airport gate!
Chaske Spencer's Heroin Battle
Sam Uley was a responsible man/werewolf, but the actor who portayed him, Chaske Spencer, led a far different life.
Prior to being cast in the saga, he openly admitted to addictions to alcohol. And heroin. He said, "A girl I was dating [introduced me to heroin]. I started smoking it, then snorting it. Three months in, I was doing it every day. I'd never memorize my lines; I couldn't function to audition. My work ethic went out the door."
Eventually, he landed himself in jail after attempting to buy weed; two undercovers booked him, which, in hindsight, was one of the best things that could happen to him, since he slowly realized the destructive path he was on.
Down the road, he found solace in rehab, and went on to sign his contract for New Moon... on the one-year anniversary of his sobriety.
Kiowa Gordon's Identity Theft
The man depicted on the left is Kiowa Gordon, who portrayed Wolf Pack member Embry. But there's another guy named David LaVera, who pretended to be the relatively unknown Kiowa in order to seduce a 14-year-old girl in Iowa and lure her into his car. At the time, Kiowa was 24 and David was 33, so pedophile status all the way.
Thankfully, a family friend allegedly stopped the car and forced the girl to get out, and the man was soon caught... with two swords and four daggers in his vehicle. Dear god.
