Our hearts go out to one of our Austin & Ally favorites, Raini Rodriguez, as well as to her equally-famous brother, Modern Family‘s Rico Rodriguez. The siblings recently informed the public that they lost their beloved father, Roy Rodriguez.

On March 12, the 52-year-old patriarch of the Rodriguez family died of currently unknown (to the public) causes, but the 23-year-old Disney Channel actress and 18-year-old ABC television actor paid tribute for the first time yesterday on their Instagram pages. “You have officially been gone one week daddy,” Raini posted on her social media account, “and while it has been really difficult, we are all still standing tall and I know it’s because you are sending us strength and guidance all the way from heaven. My daddy was the greatest man in my life. His work ethic and sense of humor were two of his greatest characteristics, both of which he shared with me.”

“He has taught me so many life lessons and inspired me constantly to follow my dreams,” she continued. “I know you will continue to shine down on me, momma, Rico, Ray, Poppi and baby and we will be ok! I promise to make you proud daddy. I will love and miss you forever. – Your one and only baby girl”

Rico echoed his sister’s sentiments, saying, “This has been the toughest week of my life. My Dad was the most kind hearted, loving, hard working, determined, and funny man I have ever known. He was like a super hero, he had the ability to get the best out of you day in and day out.”

“I’m gonna miss your hugs,” he added. “I’m gonna miss your advice. I’m gonna miss your smile, and I’m gonna miss your laugh. I know you’re looking down at us right now giving us the green light to move forward. I miss you Daddy. I’ll love you forever – Your youngest”

While it’s uncertain why Mr. Rodriguez passed away, these stars know what it’s like to lose their father… to cancer:

Vanessa Hudgens

After being diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in August 2015, Vanessa's father, Greg Hudgens, passed away from the disease. The 65-year-old's passing, unfortunately, came just hours before Vanessa took the Fox stage in the role of Rizzo for Grease: Live. Vanessa dedicated her performance to her father saying, "Tonight, I do the show in his honor." Because she's such a trooper, she went on to give a flawless performance. You go, girl!

Demi Lovato

Although Demi didn't seem to have a close relationship with her father in life, she still had to deal with struggle of losing him to cancer back in 2013. The "Confident" singer then opened up about her relationship with him and his passing in the song "Father" that is featured on her latest album. We're here for you, Demi!

Austin Mahone

Unfortunately, Austin's father never grew old enough to see his son grow into the talented musician he is today — as he lost his battle with cancer when Austin was still a kid! However, because of the timing in Austin's life, it only helped him grow closer to his father. "People are like, 'Is it weird that you don't have a dad?' No. That’s just how I grew up, and that's what's normal for me. I can't imagine having a dad. I can't be like, 'Hey, Dad! Want to go play catch in the yard?' That would be weird for me to say," he told Teen Vogue in an interview.

The Kardashians

Before the Jenner family was around, Kris was married (and later divorced) to famed lawyer, Robert Kardashian. He served as the father for Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, and Rob, until he passed away on September 20, 2003 from esophageal cancer at the mere age of 59. The siblings still remember their father in episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians and is being portrayed by David Schwimmer in The People v. O.J. Simpson.

Scott Disick

And Kourtney Kardashian's on-again-off-again love and father of her children, Scott Disick, unfortunately lost his father to cancer as well. As his dad, Jeffrey, seemed to have passed away from the disease in the beginning of 2014 — just months after his mother passed away as well. So sad!

Priyanka Chopra

In June 2013, the Quantico actress lost her father to cancer after he suffered an eight year battle with the disease. In fact, Priyanka even put her acting career on hold for a bit to deal with her father and his disease. However, after the passing, she used both of their struggle to open up her very own cancer center in his name. How sweet!

Keith Urban

At the end of 2015, the country rocker's father, Robert Urban, lost his battle with cancer. "My Dad's love of country music and America set me on my life's journey, and shaped so much of who I am today," Keith released in a statement after his father's passing, "Thank you to everyone who has kept us all in your thoughts and prayers."
