Despite how messy Taylor Swift‘s breakups may seem, she’s actually got some supportive ex-boyfriends. “Artists need the person with the loudest voice to speak for them. I think [she’s doing that],” John Mayer once said about his ex and her Spotify movement. “The only reason we’re talking about Taylor Swift taking Spotify on is because she’s Taylor Swift and that’s great.”
“She’s great,” Joe Jonas said on a separate occasion (when he was dating Tay’s pal, Gigi Hadid). “We’re friends. I think in this industry, you meet a lot of people and you stay in touch. Obviously, it’s tough to be friends with people that are always constantly traveling, but yeah, we’re cool.”
Out of all of the 27-year-old “New Romantics” singer’s former loves, though, none of them are more supportive of her and her career than Harry Styles. The two may’ve only hooked up for a few months (if even) — but that doesn’t mean the One Direction guy isn’t a fan of the blonde beauty and her work. To prove it to you, here are six of the most beautiful things the “Sign of the Times” crooner said about Taylor Swift and her music (including his awesome quotes from Rolling Stone!):
When Rolling Stone asked him about "Style" and "Out of the Woods."
"I mean, I don't know if they're about me or not," he began, "but the issue is, she's so good, they're bloody everywhere... I write from my experiences; everyone does that. I'm lucky if everything [we went through] helped create those songs. That's what hits your heart. That's the stuff that's hardest to say, and it's the stuff I talk least about. That's the part that's about the two people. I'm never going to tell anybody everything."

...even though he wasn't able to tell her how great they are.
"She doesn't need me to tell her they're great," he insisted in his RS spread. "They're great songs... It's the most amazing unspoken dialogue ever."

When Rolling Stone pressed him for more, asking if he had a message for Taylor Swift today.
"Maybe this is where you write down that I left!" he joked. "I don't know... Certain things don't work out. There's a lot of things that can be right, and it's still wrong. In writing songs about stuff like that, I like tipping a hat to the time together. You're celebrating the fact it was powerful and made you feel something, rather than 'this didn't work out, and that's bad.' And if you run into that person, maybe it's awkward, maybe you have to get drunk... but you shared something. Meeting someone new, sharing those experiences, it's the best sh*t ever. So thank you."

That time he praised her Grammy Awards performance.
In February 2013, following Haylor's split, Capital FM asked Harry for his thoughts on her Grammys performance... and he had nothing but positive things to say about his former flame's takeover.
"She's a great performer and she always performs great. She's always good on the stage. She's been doing it a long time. She knows what she's doing on stage. It was just another good Taylor Swift performance. It was good."

Even the idea of Tay penning songs about Harry didn't send him over the edge.
"It would be hypocritical for me to say she couldn't do it because everybody writes songs based on personal experience," he told Us Weekly in August 2013. "I can't say I'd have dated someone less famous to avoid it. I think it's people, you like people for who they are, so I couldn't say I want to date someone less famous because of the hassle. You like who you like."
Considering all the great things he said about her post-split, you better believe that he totally gushed about her before calling it quits.
"She's a really lovely girl. Honestly, she couldn't be a sweeter person. She's a great girl and she's extremely talented. She's one of those people you meet [who's] genuinely a nice person," he exclaimed to Seventeen in November 2012. "Some people you meet and they are not as nice as you make them out to be, but she's one of those people who's really just amazing."
