If some of your favorite celebrities seem to be sporting some extra sparkly smiles lately, it may not be because of their pearly whites — it may actually be because they have diamonds in their teeth. #casual This type of jewelry is commonly known as a grill; they have been a staple of hip-hop culture since the early 1980s. This blinged-out dental accessory became even more popular in the early 2000s — Smile for me, daddy // (What you looking at?) // Let me see ya grill // (Let me see my what?) — but lately the trend seems to be gaining traction among some of today’s biggest stars.
While some famous people are choosing to bling out their entire mouths with a full-on grill, others are going for a more understated look, only applying a gem to one or two teeth. Hey, if you’ve got millions to spare, why not? Anyway, here’s our list of stars that are still rocking the dental accessory trend in 2017:
Justin Bieber is the most recent celeb to get himself a grill. Although this isn't the first time he's sported jewels on his teeth, this may be his most expensive grill yet! The $15,000 pink sapphire grillz can be seen on the Instagram page of Justin's Jeweler, @GoldTeethGod. While we can think of a whole lot of other ways to spend $15K, we can't blame the Canadian heartthrob for falling head over heels for some sparkly new bling!

Model Hailey Baldwin didn't quite go with as bold of a look as Justin did when it came to the jewels in her mouth, but she definitely showed off some next-level sparkle on Instagram just a few weeks ago, with two diamond studs bonded to her teeth.
Rather than a full-on grill, a lot of stars have been opting to go with tooth gems instead, which they can get at a place called Tooth Kandy in Los Angeles. It's there that they select which type of gem they'd like to have bonded to their teeth. The new ice usually lasts for about six months to a year.

During London Fashion Week back in February, Kendall Jenner hit the town donning a shiny gold grill on the top left side of her mouth. While Kendall's fashion sense is usually A+, the gold additions kind of made her look like she was missing a bunch of teeth. Perhaps this fashion statement was a nod to her rumored bae, ASAP Rocky, who is known to rock grillz just about all of the time. Regardless, Kendall smiled wide and showed off the accessory, once again proving that she can pretty much wear anything and get away with it.

Katy Perry is another star who chose to subtly add some jewelry to her pearly whites. At the iHeartRadio Music Awards, Katy was photographed with a glimmering, gold decal in the shape of the Nike swoosh on her left canine. It's unclear why exactly she chose to go with the Nike logo, but she certainly lived by the sneaker company's slogan, "Just do it."

Halsey has never been one to shy away from exotic fashion trends, and dental accessories are no exception. Like the aforementioned ladies, Halsey went for more of a subtle look when it came to the jewelry on her teeth. In January she took to Instagram to share a photo of the gold star she was rocking on the left side of her top set of chompers.
Given her daring fashion sense, it's not all that surprising that Halsey tried out the trend, and given her bad-ass attitude, it's also not surprising that she totally rocked it!

Perhaps the most surprising member of the 2017 grill club is Tyga and Blac Chyna's 4-year-old son, King Cairo.
While on vacation in Costa Rica with the Kardashian clan, Tyga took to Instagram to show off the diamond grill he gifted to his child. However, the post was met with harsh criticism, as Instagram users accused him of being a bad parent by actively ruining King's teeth.
On the other hand, some comments were from fans that were absolutely smitten with King's new look! Hey, we know kids love shiny, new toys, but this wasn't quite what we had in mind.

Rapper Lil Yachty has been known to rock a grill or two here and there, but he solidified his spot on this list specifically for the rainbow-colored grill he debuted at the 2017 Grammy Awards.
More than double the cost of Justin Bieber's latest set of pink sapphire grills, Yachty racked up a bill of $35K for the vibrant rainbow hardware.
According to TMZ, each tooth was made of a different type of gemstone, including white, blue and yellow diamonds, red rubies, and green emeralds. Oh.
