The Top 5 Absolute Worst Kissing Moments in Harry Potter Movie History

by: on | in Movies | No Comments

We’ve seen some uncomfortable kisses unfold on movie screens in our heyday. Jacob & Bella’s smooch in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse felt forced, Kathryn & Cecile’s spit-swap in Cruel Intentions was literally that — a spit-swap… But we can’t say that too many bad kissing moments go down within one franchise.

…though, Harry Potter has at least a handful.

Don’t lie to yourself — you KNOW you cringed while watching Harry & Cho’s first (& only) kiss, Harry & Ginny’s first kiss, Harry & Ginny’s second kiss… You get the idea. To prove to you just how awful they were, here are the top five worst kissing moments in Harry Potter movie history:

Harry & Cho in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

"Wet. She was sort of... crying." Those are the words Harry, himself, chose to describe his kiss with his crush, Cho Chang, in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Hermione is sure, though, that "Harry's kissing is more than satisfactory" — but Cho has a lot of emotions to sort through. "Well, obviously she's feeling sad about Cedric, and therefore confused about liking Harry and guilty about kissing him. Conflicted because Umbridge is threatening to sack her mother from her job at the Ministry and frightened of failing her O.W.L.'s because she's so busy worrying about everything else."

With all of that going through her mind, it explains why the kiss was so lackluster.

Ron & Lavender in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Although Ron was in love with Hermione, he had no problem locking lips with Lavender Brown during a post-Quidditch victory party in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince — in front of everyone... including Hermione!

To be fair, Lavender pulled him in for the snog. To be even more fair, Ginny, in the book, referred to the makeout sesh as Ron "eating her face." Sexy, right?

Ginny & Harry in EVERYTHING

Ginny & Harry have a total of three kisses throughout the movie franchise: the first in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (in the Room of Requirement); the second in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1; the last in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. And none of 'em were very steamy.

In fact, many criticized the pair, portrayed by Bonnie Wright & Daniel Radcliffe, for their lack of chemistry. Ron may not want to see her sister snog Dean Thomas, but, TBH, we'd kinda prefer it.

Harry & Hermione in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

After swapping spit in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, DanRad was quite forthcoming about his first and only kiss with Emma Watson.

"I always thought it was going to be this soft sensual sort of moment and suddenly there was this vigorous kissing happening to me," he explained. "She is a bit of an animal."

Daniel added that "she was great," but it was the "animal" part of Dan's quote that resonated with fans. It's meant to be an aggressive (not to mention FAUX) kiss, though, so we guess it served its purpose.

Ron & Hermione in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

The makeout session between Ron and Hermione in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 was one of the most highly anticipated liplocks of all time. Unfortunately, it left much to be desired when it actually when from page to picture.

"It was a tricky one, because it had to be believable," he explained. "We had to look like we wanted to do it, when in reality we really didn't." Well, no wonder it came out meh!

Mary & Ron in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

This one gets an honorable mention because it probably marked a horrible day in this woman's life — she was accused of lying to the Ministry by Umbridge, and was standing trial for it — but it was hilarious from an audience standpoint.

Mary Cattermole kisses who she thinks is her husband, Reginald Cattermole, but it's actually Ron after drinking Polyjuice Potion. The potion wears off as the kiss is coming to an end, while Harry, Hermione and Reginald watch the final moments, mostly in horror.
