6 Celebrities Who Forgave Their Abusive Significant Others

by: on | in Celebrities | No Comments

Celebrities aren’t as untouchable as we think they are, and they, too, can be victims of violence in relationships. Stars like Debby Ryan and Sarah Hyland both spoke out about being abused by their significant others in the past, in hopes of educating fans about the dangers of domestic violence. Usually, a star who has been assaulted cuts off ties with their S.O. immediately, but in some cases, he or she chooses to give them another chance and forgive.

Let’s just get one thing straight right off the bat — abusive relationships of any kind are NOT okay. And as much as you might ship a celebrity couple, it’s not cool to encourage their reconciliation after verbal/physical/emotional assault has occurred. Okay? Okay.

Madison Beer

If you don't know what's been going on between Madison Beer and Jack Gilinsky lately, you probably live under a rock. But don't worry — we'll fill you in.

Recently, an audio recording was released of the former Viner saying HORRIBLE things to his (now ex) girlfriend. Even more recently, it was revealed that the fight happened over a year ago, meaning that the "Dead" singer stayed with him despite his verbally abusive behavior. The two are now broken up and Madison has deleted almost all traces of her ex from her Instagram account.

Evan Peters

Back in 2013, Evan was found outside his hotel room with a bloody nose following noise reports from hotel guests. Further investigation found that it was his S.O., Emma Roberts, that inflicted the wound. She also allegedly bit him.

But while you'd THINK the American Horror Story actor would run for the hills, he stayed with his famous bae and they actually got engaged. The pair eventually split, but got back together in November 2016.

Rihanna and ex Chris Brown have a troubled history. Their relationship was actual #goals for the longest time... or so it seemed. But one night, the 28-year-old went so far as to physically assault the 29-year-old.

After a very public investigation, CB was found guilty of domestic violence and two broke up. Eventually, however, they got back together for a short period of time and Rihanna forgave him, saying that she will always love him. Thankfully, they are now broken up for good.

Kelly Rowland

Kelly opened up about a past abusive relationship in her 2013 song, "Dirty Laundry." The former Destiny's Child called the track a former of "therapy" and helped her come to terms with what happened.

"A piece of me would just go away every time he would say something," she told OMG Insider. "I'll never forget those things. I'll forgive him."

Pamela Anderson

Pamela Anderson's former husband is Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee. He allegedly committed both spousal and child abuse while the couple was married, and they broke up immediately. Shortly thereafter, however, they reconciled... but only briefly. The model's forgiveness seemed to run out only a few weeks later, and the pair split for good.

Michel'le Toussaint

Back in the day, R&B singer Michel'le Toussaint was married to rapper Dr. Dre. He was extremely abusive during their relationship, and she finally filed for divorce after he broke her nose during one particularly bad fight. Today, however, they remain cordial, because they have a son together and are forced to interact from time to time. We wouldn't say he's entirely forgiven, but Michel'le is definitely being the bigger person here.
