Since the Harry Potter film franchise premiered in 2001, we’ve lost many of the actors involved. As of January 2017, there were 17 beloved HP actors who passed away for a variety of reasons, and it is with heavy hearts that we inform you that another has joined the list, making a total of 18 stars who died.
Robert Hardy, the man who played Cornelius Fudged in the movie series, passed away on August 3 at the age of 91 at Denville Hall, a retirement home for actors outside of London.
His family told BBC that he had a “tremendous life” and “a giant career in theater, television and film spanning more than 70 years.”
“Dad is also remembered as a meticulous linguist, a fine artist, a lover of music and a champion of literature, as well a highly respected historian, and a leading specialist on the longbow,” his children, Emma, Justine and Paul, said in a statement. “He was an essential part of the team that raised the great Tudor warship The Mary Rose. Gruff, elegant, twinkly, and always dignified, he is celebrated by all who knew him and loved him, and everyone who enjoyed his work.”
Robert was memorialized by the official Harry Potter movie Twitter page, as well as many fans of the franchise.
