We’re just days away from the Season 5 premiere of Glee, but the latest covers from the FOX musical dramedy are already being released — including Lea Michele‘s rendition of The Beatles’ “Yesterday.” Considering what the 27-year-old actress has been through over the past few months with the passing of on- and off-screen love Cory Monteith, you can’t help but choke up during this beautiful ballad.

Earlier this summer, the talented star brought a tear to everyone’s eyes as she accepted the Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Actress, saying: “I just wanted to be here today to personally thank all of you and tell everyone out here how much all of your love and support as meant to me over these past few weeks. Not that I had any doubt before, but we certainly do have the greatest fans in the world. I want to dedicate this award to Cory. For all of you out there who loved Cory as much as I did — I promise you, we’ll get through this together. He was very special to me and also to the world, and we were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile and his beautiful, beautiful heart. So whether you knew him personally or as Finn, he reached out and became a part of all of our hearts. So thank you guys so much.”

“Yesterday” is the opening track on the Glee Sings the Beatles album, on sale September 24 — two days before the Season 5 premiere. (Get the tracklist here.) What do you think of Lea’s performance? Tell us in the comments below, or on our Glee message board!
