They’ve played father and son before — have you seen The Pursuit of Happyness? — and they’re about to do it again. In the trailer for Director M. Night Shyamalan‘s After Earth, real-life parent and child Will and Jaden Smith crash-land on a planet that was evacuated by humans 1,000 years prior to their arrival.

In the gritty two-minute-plus spot, Will’s character, Cypher Raige, explains to his son, Kitai (Jaden), ”If we are going to survive this, you need to remember fear is not real. It is a product of the thoughts you create. And do not misunderstand me. Danger is very real.” This quote is interlaced with sci-fi elements reminiscent of Avatar (like the creatures) and Transformers: Dark of the Moon (like the flying squirrel suits).

Other stars include The Hunger Games‘ Isabelle Fuhrman and X-Men: First Class‘ Zoe Kravitz. If you plan on seeing it in theaters, mark down June 7, 2013 in your calendars. Side Note: Does anyone love their accents? It can’t be just us.
